Priming your coil is an important step to take when using a vaping device. Failing to prime your coil can often leave many users scratching their head as to why its gone all wrong and often put the vape down never to return.
It is incredibly simple and easy to do.
Priming your coil is simply getting e-liquid into the coil before you use it. Coils have cotton in the middle which absorb the e-liquid. If you do not prime the coil and vape it, then you will burn dry cotton leaving you with a horrible burning taste.
There are two main ways to prime your coil.
This is the most common choice for many users when priming the coil. When using a brand-new coil, simply fill up your tank or pod with some e-liquid and allow it to stand for 5 minutes.
The 5 minutes allow the cotton to naturally absorb some e-liquid before you use it. After 5 minutes, the cotton will be nicely saturated and ready to use.
Most coils absorb enough e-liquid within 30 seconds to a minute, however 5 minutes allow plenty of time just to be on the safe side.
Dripping e-liquid into the coil speeds up the process. While the new coil is outside of the tank, you take some e-liquid and drip it into the middle of the coil, trying to cover all of the cotton.
This can be a bit messy if you’re to it. Adding too much e-liquid will result in it dripping right through the coil and out. If this does happen, it’s not the end of the world. Simply clean up any excess e-liquid and your coil will be good to go.
It really depends on what you’re comfortable with. They both have the exact same end result. If you really can’t wait 5 minutes, then go for the second step. Otherwise, the first step is the easiest and most simple.
The only time the second option is better is if you are using really big coils. With big coils, there is a lot more cotton on the inside, and dripping e-liquid into the middle makes sure that all of the cotton is saturated. Although, the chances are, if you’re using really big coils, you already know what you’re doing!
Don’t prime your coil and you will burn it. We see it all the time and even the experienced users are guilty of making the mistake.
If you use a brand-new coil and forget to prime it, you will be left with a foul burning taste. If this happens, then unfortunately you will need to replace the coil.
There is no way to reverse a burnt coil. Replace it with a new one and remember to prime it!
You only need to prime your coil when using it for the first time. Once the coil has been primed and used, you do not need to do it again until you replace it with a new one.
